About the Company
UX Studio, launched in 2013, offers user experience design and research services to startups and enterprises in industries such as fintech, healthcare, and education. The company’s teams focus on validating product ideas, conducting research, and designing user interfaces, but leave development to client-side teams. Beyond client work, the agency has built its own successful in-house products and aspires to expand this aspect of its business.
The company operates with a client-centric approach and a commitment to impactful design. With a team of 41 employees, UX Studio emphasizes transparency and collaboration, ensuring that every project is tailored to meet the unique needs of its clients.
Idea Behind Company
Pásztor’s entrepreneurial journey began with an early passion for technology. Selling his Lego collection to buy his first computer ignited his interest in web design, leading to his creation of a website during his school years. After studying computer engineering and IT at university, he worked part-time as a UX designer, which eventually inspired him to break away from traditional office settings.
Realizing the limitations of working alone as a contractor, Pásztor envisioned a design agency that could accommodate more clients and provide comprehensive UX services. This blend of dissatisfaction with traditional work environments and a passion for UX design laid the foundation for UX Studio.
Creating the Company
The business began when Pásztor transitioned from contractor roles to founding his agency in 2013. Initially, he worked solo, but within six months, he hired three part-time UX professionals who became full-time employees by 2014. As the team grew, Pásztor shifted from design to managing operations and learning essential business skills like marketing and sales.
Setting up the agency required minimal upfront investment, leveraging Hungary’s self-employment framework. Over time, the company expanded its offerings, developing its own digital products alongside client projects, which brought additional revenue streams and growth opportunities.
Launching the Business
The company’s initial growth relied on word-of-mouth recommendations, but demand soon outpaced its ability to scale through referrals alone. To attract more clients, UX Studio adopted a proactive marketing strategy, including blogging, attending conferences, and launching newsletters. The shift to an English-language website and blog helped the agency secure international clients and expand its reach.
UX Studio also focused on leveraging social media, particularly LinkedIn, to engage with potential clients and industry professionals. By continuously refining its marketing and operational strategies, the company built a reputation for excellence, leading to partnerships with globally recognized brands and accolades from platforms like Clutch.
Earnings
Today, UX Studio is a thriving agency with annual revenue nearing $2 million and a profit margin of approximately 20.5%. Despite challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, the company maintained financial stability through robust savings and diversified revenue streams, including its in-house product UXfolio. Looking ahead, the agency plans to balance its focus between client services and internal product development, aiming for sustainable growth and long-term success.
