ScreenshotOne
About the Company
ScreenshotOne is a specialized API service that enables users to capture screenshots of websites by simply providing the URL. The target customers include owners of website galleries, copyright infringement software, cold email software, marketing software, and other applications that require website screenshots. Launched in January 2022, the company quickly gained traction and achieved $2,200 MRR with a single founder and employee.
Idea Behind Company
Before starting ScreenshotOne, Krasun enjoyed a decade-long career as a server-side developer. The idea for the business emerged serendipitously when Krasun decided to take time off to care for his newborn and explore entrepreneurship. Despite experimenting with other projects, his extensive experience with APIs led him to create a screenshot API. Initially, the idea seemed uninspiring due to existing competitors, but Krasun realized the market validation and aimed to build a superior product.
Creating the Company
Krasun began by purchasing a domain in January 2022 and creating a basic website. He focused on content creation for SEO, writing about problems he solved with his product. This strategy, coupled with his technical skills, helped him build the initial product within five months. The first version featured essential functions and a user dashboard. Hosting started on a Digital Ocean droplet, moved to Render, and eventually scaled to Google Cloud Platform.
Launching the Business
The product's first version was ready by the end of May 2022. Despite initial traffic from SEO efforts, sales were nonexistent. Krasun spent June 2022 on aggressive marketing through paid ads, Reddit, Indie Hackers, forums, and Twitter. His first paying customer arrived in July 2022, followed by others from Google Ads. Krasun emphasized that quick prototyping and direct customer engagement would have been a more efficient launch strategy than relying solely on SEO.
Earnings
ScreenshotOne currently earns $2,500 per month with approximately 85 customers, and server costs range between $600-800. The main traffic sources are Twitter and Google, with SEO efforts resulting in high rankings for competitive keywords. Krasun continues to refine the product, improve user experience, and provide exceptional customer support. His goal is to reach $10,000 MRR by focusing on specific customer segments and optimizing server costs.
