About the Company

Saleshandy is a SaaS company based in Ahmedabad, India, co-founded by Dhruv Patel, Piyush, and Arpan. The company specializes in providing a cold email outreach tool aimed at marketers and sales professionals. Over the years, Saleshandy has grown significantly, achieving an ARR of $1.5 million and maintaining a bootstrapped status.

Saleshandy’s primary product helps professionals in lead generation by offering features like email tracking, email automation, and insights into communication effectiveness. The company’s emphasis on user feedback and continuous improvement has been central to its development and success.

With a team of 67 employees, Saleshandy has established itself as a valuable resource for sales and marketing teams seeking to enhance their outreach efforts and improve their overall productivity.

Idea Behind Company

The idea for Saleshandy originated in 2015 when Dhruv Patel and his co-founders were working together in the same office space. They explored email campaigns and productivity tools, realizing the potential of tracking and analyzing email interactions. This insight led them to create a tool that could empower professionals with valuable communication insights.

Their initial focus was on email tracking, which later evolved into a broader vision of cold email outreach and automation. The founders' iterative approach and reliance on user feedback helped them refine their product and address the specific needs of their target audience.

As the company grew, one of the founders, Arpan, decided to pursue a different venture, leaving Dhruv and Piyush to continue driving Saleshandy forward with their shared vision and dedication.

Creating the Company

Starting as a bootstrapped venture, Saleshandy’s initial development relied on the founders' savings. The first version was a Chrome extension built with JavaScript, Node.js, and React.js. User feedback played a crucial role in shaping the product, helping the team identify pain points and areas for improvement.

The initial traction came from optimizing their Chrome extension and focusing on SEO techniques to drive organic growth. Early experiments and product iterations allowed the team to find the right product-market fit, despite the challenges and bugs encountered during development.

As the product evolved, the team decided to rewrite the software to improve its quality and architecture. This significant overhaul, completed after nine months, addressed critical bugs and resulted in a more robust version known as The New Saleshandy (TNSH).

Launching the Business

Saleshandy’s launch strategy emphasized organic growth through SEO and word of mouth rather than relying on platform-based discovery like Product Hunt. The team wrote content and hired an SEO team to optimize visibility and attract users.

The transition to cold email automation required further development and refinement. The team introduced new features, such as email writing assistants, unlimited email accounts, and warmups to cater to agency needs. They also faced challenges, such as bugs in the mail merge feature and adapting to various Outlook versions, which they overcame through dedicated effort and teamwork.

Despite these challenges, the launch of the new version marked a significant milestone, showcasing the team’s commitment to delivering a superior user experience.

Earnings

Today, Saleshandy boasts a gross margin of over 45% and a monthly customer base growth rate of 10%. The company’s product-led approach, strong focus on SEO, and effective marketing strategies have contributed to its financial success.

Saleshandy’s vision extends beyond lead generation, aiming to become a comprehensive sales engagement platform. The company continues to innovate and expand its offerings, driven by user feedback and market demands.

The founders have learned valuable lessons about product development, positioning, and the importance of agility, which have been instrumental in their journey. Their commitment to continuous learning and adaptation has helped Saleshandy maintain its competitive edge and drive sustained growth.
